Meet Sari Velar, an experienced and compassionate teacher and healer with over two decades of expertise. Sari’s transformative path unfolded at age 19 after experiencing profound and life-altering challenges—an unexpected cancer diagnosis and the later pursuit of treatment for an ongoing eating disorder and co-occurring substance misuse.

Driven by these transformative experiences, Sari embarked on a journey of deep study in the therapeutic application of yoga to treat conditions such as cancer, eating disorders and PTSD. Sari’s education in the human biological sciences and deep and personal interest in body-based practices to heal trauma, lead her to pursue an adjacent path in the study of somatic therapy. In addition to holding several certifications in various somatic modalities, Sari is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and is also beginning level teaching assistant for the professional training program at Somatic Experiencing International. She is also a certified provider of Dr. Stephen Porges’ Safe and Sound Protocol, an adjunct auditory therapy that help clients regulate their nervous system in response to overwhelming sensory stimuli and potential trauma triggers.

Sari currently combines her diverse education in trauma-specialized yoga and her training in somatic trauma therapy to help support clients currently experiencing symptoms of PTSD and C-PTSD. Though supported experiential somatic therapy sessions, Sari is able to offer clients an individualized path to help reorganize their experiences, responses and patterns around trauma. Sari’s also offers individual and group sessions to support clients and caregivers in understanding how the nervous system is impacted by chronic stress and trauma and how to incorporate body-based tools to manage nervous system dysregulation.
